National Louis University: Course Schedule User Guide
This guide provides instructions on how to use the web-based Course Schedule application to search for classes, view descriptions, and locate meeting information.
Quick Reference
Use this section for a quick overview of key features.
Searching
- Select Criteria: You do not need to fill in every field. Leave fields blank to see a broader list of results.
- Multi-Select: You can click multiple options in lists like Subject or Campus.
- Days of the Week:
- Standard Selection: Finds classes meeting on any of the selected days.
- "And" Checkbox: Check this box to find classes that meet on all the specific days you selected (e.g., must meet Mon AND Wed).
Viewing Results
- Copy CRN: Click directly on the CRN number to copy it to your clipboard.
- Course Details: The page loads with all details expanded. Use Collapse All to see a clean list.
- Refine Search: Click New Criteria to return to the search page with your previous settings saved.
Detailed Instructions
Step 1: Select Your Term
- Open the application.
- On the first page, use the dropdown menu to select the academic Term you wish to view.
- Click the Continue button to proceed to the search page.
Step 2: Define Search Criteria
On the second page, you can filter courses to find exactly what you need.
- Course Level: Select from options such as Undergraduate or Graduate.
- Course Number: If you know the specific code, type it into the text box.
- Multi-Select Lists: For fields like Subject, Campus, College, Part of Term, Instructor, Start/End Time, you can highlight multiple options to broaden your search.
- Days of the Week Logic:
- Select the days you are interested in.
- "And" Checkbox: If you check the box labeled "And", the search will only return courses that meet on every single day you selected. If you leave it unchecked, it will return courses meeting on any of the selected days.
Using Pre-defined Searches
If you prefer to browse by category, scroll to the bottom of the page. Click any link under Predefined Course Searches to immediately view the schedule for that specific group of classes.
Search Page Buttons
- Search: Runs the report based on your current selections.
- Select Different Term: Returns you to Page 1 to choose a different semester.
- New Search: Clears all your current selections so you can start fresh.
Step 3: View Search Results
The results page displays your courses in an interactive list.
The Display (Accordions)
By default, the page opens with Expand All active, meaning all course details are visible.
- Collapsed View: Shows the Course Name, Part of Term, Department, Instructor, CRN, Enrollment (Enrolled/Max), Credits, and Campus.
- Expanded View: Reveals the Meeting Dates, Times, Room/Zoom details, Section Comments, Prerequisite info, and the Catalog Description.
Key Actions
- Copy CRN: Click specifically on the CRN number (e.g., 10217) to copy it to your clipboard. You can then paste this into other applications or registration forms.
- Toggle Views: Click anywhere else on the course row to open or close that specific course's details.
Note: Room assignments are subject to change without notice. Please check the term schedule posted on campus upon arrival for your first class session.
Step 4: Navigate and Refine
Use the buttons at the top of the results page to manage your search session:
